Doris Leona Long, 86, passed away June 29, 2002 in Mesa. Doris was born to Charlie and Myrtle Cagle in Boise, Idaho, on August 22, 1915. She moved to Arizona at the age of 6 months. She had 2 sisters and 6 brothers. Doris worked as a bookkeeper until she retired. She served as President of The Pilot Club of Yuma (1966-67); was active in the Persian Gulf Command Veterans Organization; was a member of Order of the Eastern Star; a member of Arizona Pioneer family and of Velda Rose United Methodist Church. Doris enjoyed planning & attending conventions, traveling and spending time at the family cabin in Pinetop. She was preceded in death by husband Cecil Stewart in 1967 and husband Virgil Long in 1989. She is survived by sons Tim (Cathy) Stewart of Scottsdale, and Mason (Maria) Stewart of Mesa; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sister Virginia Peterson of Phoenix; and brother Russell (Susan) Cagle of Sun City West. Visitation Wednesday, July 3rd, 2002, at Velda Rose United Methodist Church, 5540 E. Main St. in Mesa followed by her service at the church. Interment will be at Mt. View Memorial Gardens 7900 E.
