PHILLIPS, Harper Montague


Harper Montague Phillips passed away June 28, 2002 at the age of 82. He was born March 28, 1920 at Oakdale, PA to Capt. Lockhart and Ruth Harper Phillips. He moved to Phoenix at age 8 with his mother. He attended Kenilworth School, P.U.H.S. and ASU majoring in Business Administration. He served during WWII as a Sgt. in the Army. He married Juanita Shaulis in 1941 in Phoenix. He was a member of American MENSA, the Phoenicians, BPOE, sons of the American Revolution, Monday Morning Quarterbacks, 20-30 Club, First Presbyterian Church, American Legion and VFW. He worked for the Republic and Gazette in the 30's and then went into broadcasting management until he opened Toy Fair in 1956 in Maryvale. He is survived by his wife, Juanita, one daughter Judy and husband Gordon Hayden of Colorado, 3 grandsons, Frank, Mike, and Philip of California, and 11 great-grandchildren. Memorial service handled by Menke Funeral Home, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City, AZ Wednesday, July 3, 2002, Pastor Scott Jones officiating.
