The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Sunday, January 19, 2003 Esther Garlock Bortz, 94, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003 at her home in Sun City, Arizona. Born in Southbury, Conn., on May 17, 1908. She is survived by her husband, Vernon C. Bortz, son, William P. Schink of San Manuel, Az., daughter, Marian S. Rufibach of Glendale, Az., and son Robert E. Schink of Pa.; step-daughter, Lucretia Peterson of Long Beach, Ca., thirteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Playing the piano and singing were expressions of Esther's lifelong love of music. Visitation will be at Menke Funeral Home in Sun City on Tuesday, Jan. 21 from 2-4 p.m. Graveside services will be held on Wed., Jan 22, at 11:00 a.m. at Glendale Memorial Park Cemetery.
