MARRON, John Bernard

The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona February 15, 2003 John B. Marron, 75, of Scottsdale, Arizona, passed away at his home in the loving arms of his family on Thursday, February 13, 2003. John was born in Davenport, Iowa, on October 1, 1927. He attended St. Ambrose College in Iowa and later Harvard Law School. John came to Phoenix to practice law, working in the County Attorney's and Attorney General's Offices, until he went into private practice. Destiny brought Patricia ("Pat"), his loving wife since 1954, into his life. They were blessed with their four children, Terry, Kathy, Sean and Tim, and his two children Michelle and John J., as well as six precious grandchildren. John was involved in all of the activities of his children, including sports, hunting and fishing. He will be proudly remembered by them as a loving Spouse, Father and Grandfather who worked diligently to provide them all with a loving and rich life. His gentle spirit and unique sense of humor will be greatly missed. John felt very blessed with all of God's gifts and tried in return to use his talents to "give back" to the community. Through the years he has served many of the Catholic Church's local organizations, including the Human Development Board and the Catholic Social Services Board, and was a founding member and current board member of the Foundation for Senior Living. He was also legal counsel for the Better Business Bureau for many years and currently was a member of the Better Business Bureau Foundation and the Downtown Lions Club. John has received many awards and recognitions for his service to the community, including: the Melvin Jones Fellow Award for Dedicated Humanitarian Services, from Lions Clubs International; the Don Heiple Quarter Century Service Award for Continuous Dedicated and Meritorious Service to the Families and Children of the Diocese of Phoenix; the Award in Recognition of Outstanding Service as Scottsdale Councilman from 1959-1962; and he was only the fourth person ever to receive the Angel Wings Award from the Foundation for Senior Living. In addition, he will forever be remembered with the John B. Marron Star that has been named in his honor (located at RA 351.79131667 and declination 70.38450833). John leaves us all in a better place because of his presence. A Rosary will be held at 7:00pm on Sunday, February 16th, at Messinger Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Road, and Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, February 17th, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 10815 N. 84th St. in Scottsdale. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to the Foundation for Senior Living and to the caring and devoted team at Hospice of the Valley. Courtesy of Pat Wilson.
