SHARRER, John (The Mailman)

The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Sunday, January 19, 2003 John (The Mailman) Sharrer who often went by the name of (Johnny D,) left this earth and joined a higher power Wednesday, January 15, 2003. He was a family man who cherished his wife, children and especially his grandchildren who knew him as their "Poppy." "Poppy" took pleasure in teasing his two little grandladies and toughing up his two little men. He prided his youngest son enjoying his adventurous side and was perplexed by his youngest daughter's quirky habits. He loved his leisure time, his spontaneous getaways with family and friends, and we especially admired and appreciated his unique ability and style to choose winning greyhounds and thoroughbreds. He received a good conduct medal after an honorable discharge from the U.S. Air Force. John retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 30 eventful years. Services will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Church on Wednesday, January 22, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. John is survived by his loving wife, five beautiful daughters, three handsome sons and four plus grandchildren. He lived life to the fullest usually portraying his big kid qualities. Daddy will forever be remembered by all of those he graced. May he eternally rest with Angels. Courtesy of Pat Wilson.
