VIGIL, Martha (Marti)

Martha "Marti" Vigil Phoenix, entered into rest June 29, 2002 at the age of 62. She came to Arizona from Iowa 46 years ago for health reasons. Mrs. Vigil had been an Administrative Assistant for Arthur Anderson, leaving some 20 years ago for disability reasons. She also had been a court reporter for the United States Bankruptcy Court. She was an avid book reader, as they were an important part of her life. She had internet pen-pals all over the world. And most important, children were number one in her life. She also served as a volunteer to the Democratic Party and was a contributor to the AZ Humane Society. Survivors include her loving husband, Darrel L.; sisters, Sonja Vick & Helen Chiles; 2 nephews; and 4 nieces. Mrs. Vigil is preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Gyda Nilsson, and a brother, Thomas Nilsson. Visitation will be Wednesday July 3, 2002 at Green Acres Glendale Mortuary 5830 W. Missouri Ave in Glendale, AZ. Funeral services will follow the visitation at the mortuary. Published in The Arizona Republic July 02, 2002.
