EVANS, Marie

Marie Burke Evans, 90, died in Chico, California on June 27, 2002. Services will be private. Marie was born in Bethel, Ohio to Clara and Edger Burke on July 28, 1911. She was married to the former William Earnest Evans. Marie is survived by her twin sister, Evelyn McGrane of Chico, CA, her three children, Elizabeth J. Chadwick of Morrison, CO, John E. Evans of Decatur, GA, and Robert W. Evans of Chico, CA. She also has five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Marie was raised in Columbus, Ohio, and moved to Dayton, Ohio, where she and her husband raised their children. In 1969 Earnest and Marie moved to Ft. Walton Bh., FL where she lived until her husband's death. In 1984 Marie moved to Phoenix AZ to be with her twin sister Evelyn. In 1994 Marie and Evelyn moved to Chico to be closer to family. Marie's free time was spent volunteering at Grace Methodist Church in Dayton, and at the local hospitals in Dayton and Ft. Walton Beach. She was a member of the Dayton, Ohio Women's League. A devoted wife and mother Marie instilled in her children a sense of independence and adventure. Her three children have all traveled extensively throughout the world, two having lived overseas. Marie's family request that instead of sending flowers make a donation to their favorite charity in her name. The Arizona Republic July 4, 2002
