CHECURAS, Ramona


The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Wednesday, January 22, 2003 Ramona Checuras, 93, passed away on January 19, 2003. Ramona was born on January 4, 1910 in Bisbee, Arizona, which was part of the Arizona Territory at that time. A s a young girl, she moved to Phoenix, met her husband Sam, and raised three daughters. Her long life was full with family and friends. She had a deep commitment to her church, her community, and to her country. Ramona was active in many local groups which included the Salvation Army, Las Damas del Valle, LULAC, Friendly House and the Mexican Chamber of Commerce. As a loyal Democrat, Ramona served as a Democratic Precinct Committeewoman. She was loved by many and will be missed deeply. Her survivors include daughters, Demetria Allison, Athena Miller and Kali Holloway; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services to begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2003 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 47 E. Ashland, Phoenix, Az.
