MENDENHALL, Lucille


The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona February 16, 2003 Lucille Mendenhall, 95, of League City, TX, went to be with the Lord on February 12th, 2003 after a faithful life with Christ for over 70 years. Born in Spraytown, Indiana she married Rev. Kenneth Mendenhall. The two of them in 1945 founded and directed what is now known as Southwest Indian Missionary Association. They had a great love for the Native Americans as well as a son William Robert Mendenhall. Although Lucille lived the past few years in Texas with her daughter Shirlee and husband Carey, she lived in Phoenix for over forty years. Visitation will be at Sunland Memorial Park Chapel in Sun City on February 17th at 12:00 PM with services to follow at 1:00 PM. A time of fellowship will be held following the service at the Missionary Chapel, located in Phoenix at 1005 E. Palm Lane. Survivors include son Earl Mendenhall of Phoenix, daughters Donna Mercer of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Shirlee Hudgins of League City, Texas, 14 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, other relatives and a whole host of friends. The family requests any contributions be made in her honor to Southwest Indian Missionary Association, PO Box 36535, Phoenix, AZ 85067, where a memorial fund had been established in her honor.
