Betty A. Peterson, 74, passed peacefully into the arms of her lord Monday, February 10, 2003 at The Lutheran Home, Wawatosa, Wisconsin.
She was born May 4th, 1928, in Lebo, Kansas, the daughter of Charles Ray Sloan and Margaret Jane Evans. Betty graduated from Lebo High School in 1946 and taught 7th and 8th grade there before entering Ottawa University in Kansas. After earning her teaching degree at Emporia State College, Betty taught eIementary school.
She married Harvey Lee Peterson in 1952. As a soloist with the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire Choir, Betty performed extensively, traveling to Europe in 1964. She taught piano privately while raising her children. In 1982 Betty and Harvey moved to Scottsdale, Arizona. They became Charter Members of The Desert View Presbyterian Church, where Betty also sang in the choir. Betty has been a resident of The Lutheran Home since 1998.
Survivors include one son, H. Lee Peterson, of La Canada, Calif. and one daughter, Margot Peters, of Wawatosa, Wisconsin, brother Jerry Sloan of Lebo, Kansas and sister, Patricia Wamser of Emporia, Kansas, 6 nieces, 8 nephews, 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sister Mamie and brother David.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday February 16th at The La Crescenta Presbyterian Church, Montrose, California. Andrew Wilson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Betty's name be sent to The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 2440 S. Sepulveda, Los Angeles, Calif. Special thanks to The Lutheran Home Nursing Staff for their care and consideration.
Betty will be remembered for her endurance and perseverance as she faced the many challenges and trials that came her way. She will be greatly missed.
