Carlis Maxine Turnbull, 87, passed away Feb. 14, 2003.

Carlis Maxine Turnbull, 87, died in her home Feb. 14, 2003.
She was born April 28, 1915 in Denmar, West Virginia to Lewis Marion and Rosa Bruce Smith, where she lived until coming west in 1928.
She met and married Harry A. Turnbull in Reno, Nevada in 1940 and they made their home in New Mexico. They moved to McNary in 1955 and then to Pinetop in 1957. She worked for the Pinetop Post Office for 20 years before retiring in 1980. She was a charter member of the Pinetop Presbyterian Church, and a member of Eastern Star and Emblem Club. She and her husband helped start the White Mountain Square Dance Club.
She is survived by one son James H. Turnbull (Deanna) of Selah, Washington; three daughters, Maxine Ann Turnbull of Durango, Colorado, Sandra Hazelwood (Jim) of Datil, New Mexico, Cheryl Church of Show Low; eight grandchildren; and one brother, Lewis Smith, Clovis, California.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Turnbull who died in 1990.

Graveside services were held Feb. 17 at the Lakeside Cemetery.
