Gladys Pearl Jacobs, 99, a longtime resident of Glendale, Arizona, passed away Jan. 19th in Phoenix, Az. Born Sept. 6, 1903 to George and Emma (Pugsley) Cothern in Herrick, Ill.
Longtime member and former Deacon of the Glendale Church of the Brethren, member of the Eastern Star, and past Elementary and High School PTA President. Gladys received the Humanitarian of the Year Award from the City of Glendale, Arizona in 1992. She was a founding member of the Westside Food Bank, and Glendale Child Development Center.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Ernest Charles Jacobs, her son, Richard Allen Jacobs, one brother and one sister.
She is survived by her daughter Emma Sue Uphoff-Ricketts, and son, Ernest C. Jacobs Jr., five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation 5-8 p.m., Thursday Jan. 23rd, and Funeral Service 1:00 p.m., Friday, Jan. 24, 2003 at Chapel of the Chimes, with interment following at Resthaven Park Cemetery, Glendale, Az.
