THOMAS, Herbert Lee (Tommy)


The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Wednesday, January 22, 2003 Hubert Lee (Tommy) Thomas, of Glendale, Arizona, went to heaven Sunday, January 19, 2003 to share eternal bliss with his beloved wife, at the wonderful age of 87. He was born in Wooten, Colorado on August 8, 1915. Dad was a devoted husband, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a loyal and trusted friend to so many who were fortunate enough to share his company. Hubert was a sergeant in the U.S. Army and served in combat medic in WWII in both North Africa and Egypt. He then worked as a purchasing agent for the City of Phoenix until 1977 when he retired. Hubert also helped establish the Black Canyon Church of Christ where he was an Elder. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Thomas, and his sister, Darla Mae Thomas who died in infancy in 1920. He is survived by his daughter, Shirley Marlene Littleton; sons, Gary Thomas, wife Elizabeth and Dave Thomas, wife Dawn; brother, Robert Morris Thomas, wife Jennie; grandchildren, Craig Littleton, Christy Robinson, Debbie Foster, Cherylynn Dauch, Brian Thomas, and Kevin Thomas; and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, January 22, 2003 at Mercer Chapel in the Garden, 1541 E. Thomas Rd., Phoenix, Az., 85014. Funeral service will be held 11am, Thursday, January 23, 2003 at Black Canyon Church of Christ, 7145 N. Black Canyon Hwy, Phoenix, Az., 85021.
