Funeral for Frank S. Rodriguez will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Valley of the Sun Mausoleum Chapel, 10940 E. Chandler Heights Road, with the Rev. George Highberger officiating.
Visitation and rosary Tuesday evening, also in the mausoleum chapel, led by Deacon Craig Hintze. Entombment will be in Valley of the Sun Mausoleum.
Mr. Rodriguez, the owner of LaGardenia Cafe for eight years before retiring in 1975, was born Oct. 4, 1905 in Luling, Texas. He was a sheriff's deputy in Luling and moved to Arizona 51 years ago from Lubbock, Texas. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad in his younger years and was a migrant contractor. He was a Mason.
He is survived by two daughters, Irene Kakar of Casa Grande and Alvina Ramos of Chandler; five sons, Valentine Rodriguez of Eloy, Gilbert Rodriguez of Mesa, Richard Rodriguez of Phoenix, Frank Rodriguez of Florence and Alfonso Rodriguez of Tempe; 10 adopted children, Alfredo T. Rodriguez of Phoenix, Irene Ramos of Phoenix, Maria Dominguez of Chandler, Alfonso T. Rodriguez of Eloy, Alvina Lucio of Arizona City, Ernie Rodriguez of Gilbert, Janie T. Rodriguez of Las Vegas, Nev., Val Rodriguez of Glendale, Christina Vega of Mesa and Lupe Vega of Chandler; 57 grandchildren; 168 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alvina, in 2000; a daughter, Guadalupe Rodriguez; and two sons, Fernando and Alfredo V. Rodriguez.
