BROWN, Thomas Larimer


Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Wednesday, February 27, 2008 Thomas Larimer Brown, 66, who grew up on a small ranch in Prescott, died Feb. 12, 2008, at his home in Elfrida, Ariz., following a long battle with lung disease. He was born in Wilmington, Del., to Virginia and James Carrington Brown Jr. The family traveled to Prescott in 1945. Tom was a 4-H club member; he also built and flew model airplanes. He graduated from Prescott High School in 1959 and then served four years in the U.S. Air Force. Returning to Prescott, he worked various jobs before moving his family to Tucson in 1971 when he worked for ASARCO mine; in 1974, the family moved to Elfrida. In 1975, he began a career as an industrial electrician, resulting in jobs around the world for companies such as Brown & Root, Stone & Webster and Global Arabia. His health deteriorated in the late 1990s and he returned to Elfrida, where he ran a business and was active in Haven Rest Ranch Church and the Cochise County Republican Club. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Stella R. (Menges) Brown; two brothers, James C. “Bing” Brown III (Carol) of Payson and David C. Brown (Magaly) of Glendale; four children, 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A celebration of Tom’s life will be March 8 in Elfrida.
