Diane Kreiman, nee Vose, died June 9, 2002 in Brighton, MI. Diane made a courageous journey to Detroit from Phoenix, obtaining treatment for a brain tumor but then developing a sudden massive infection and dying unexpectedly. Born December 18, 1932 in Oshkosh, WI, Diane lived most of her adult life in Chicago and the south suburbs before retiring to Phoenix with her husband, Norman in 1994 whom she greatly missed after his death in 1998. She was active in B'nai Brith Women, the Anti-Defamation League, Patton and Roosevelt School PTA's and the Quad-City Community Blood Council. Diane served as the volunteer Executive Director of the former Child Abuse Prevention Speakers for 20 years. She received recognition for her work in preventing child abuse with a citation in 1983 for the President's Volunteer Action Awards and with the first Governor's Volunteer of the Year Award in 1986. In Phoenix, Diane continued to be active in her neighborhood as a block watcher. She will be remembered for her fabulous brownies and delicious foods she prepared for Diane's Kitchen in Auction Systems (especially her chili) She was an excellent seamstress, especially known for her fairy tooth pillows and plastic bag holders. Diane spent the last two years writing a book about windows, which will be edited by her granddaughter and published posthumously. She loved shopping, slot machines, traveling and music. Diane leaves to cherish her memory her children, Sandy, Darlene (Dennis) Paulauski, Mike, and Lori Snyder; her grandchildren, Tracy (Rob) Doell, Denny (Crystal), Mike, and Brennan. She was the fond sister of Gene, Jim, Marilyn Hammond, Carol Turner, and the late Revie. Diane treasured her foster brother Bob (Jan) Knaak and sister Dorothy Schultz. She will be greatly missed by other relatives and dear friends in Phoenix, Chicago and elsewhere. A memorial service and special gathering will be held on July 12, 2002 at the Paradise Chapel Funeral Home, 3939 E. Indian School, Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, Diane requested memorial donations to the Hermelin Brain Tumor Clinic, or Gleaners Community Food Bank, c/o Darlene Paulauski, 5423 Red Fox, Brighton, MI 48114.
