Edna Rae O'Brien Cochran, 95, died June 22, 2002 in Mesa, AZ. She was born in 1907 in Chico, California and was raised in the Roseville, CA area.
She was a member of the first graduating class of Sacramento City College and then graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1929. She taught women's physical education at Woodland, CA High School for nine years before marrying Ernie Cochran, who preceded her in death. They farmed in the Arbuckle, CA area before moving to Auburn, CA in 1968 to retire and travel. She moved to Mesa, AZ in 1995.
She is survived by her son Michael Cochran of Norton, MA; daughter Susan Abele of Mesa, AZ; sister Margaret O'Brien of Aptos, CA; grandchildren Ellen Spann of Scottsdale, AZ; Morgan Abele of Chandler, AZ; and Sharon Meekin of Eagan, MN; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Funeral Mass will be held at Queen of Peace Church in Mesa July 9, 2002. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Sacramento, CA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hospice Family Care Foundation, 1550 S. Alma School Rd., Suite 102, Mesa, AZ 85210 or to a charity of choice.
