PATTON, Hubert Burley (Pat)


The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Friday, January 24, 2003 Hubert B. Patton, born July 29, 1917 in Danville, Arkansas, passed away January 21, 2003. The son of Burl and Minnie Patton. 'Pat' attended Arkansas Tech and the University of Arkansas (B.S. and M.A.). He was a member of the National Guard, then served as Technical Sergeant in the U.S. Army during WWII, including 31 months in the Aleutian Islands. In Arkansas, he worked with Agricultural Extension in adult education. His experience as an educator also included four years as a junior high school teacher and one year as a high school principal. In 1959, Pat moved to Arizona where he continued his career in education working for the Cartwright School District. For two years, he taught at John F. Long School. Upon completion of additional graduate courses at Arizona State University and University of Arizona, he served as principal at Glenn L. Downs and Palm Lane Elementary schools. He retired in 1979. Pat was a member of Apollo Baptist Church. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father, and a dear friend. Survivors include his wife, Jane Hall Patton, his son, Gary Patton (Wanda), his stepdaughter, April HaIl Fabbri (Gary), brother Glenn Patton, and several nieces and nephews. The family requests donations be given to Sun Health Hospice, 13180 N. 103rd Drive, Sun City, Az., 85351.
