Roger Keck, age 80, of Peoria, AZ, formerly of Rotunda West, FL and Munster, IN, died on February 12, 2003 after battling various illnesses.
He was born April 4, 1922 in Onida, SD. He graduated from Rapid City High School, attended the School of Mines there and graduated from the University of South Dakota. Roger married Shirley Holm in August of 1949. They resided in Munster for most of their married lives before retiring to Florida and then Arizona. He was an engineer for Wisconsin Steel of Chicago.
Roger devoted his energies to family, friends and church and led a full and active life. He was involved in the church choirs, had a very active political life, including mayor for the town of Munster and was the Chairman of the Resident's Council at Sierra Winds. Since coming to Sierra Winds, Roger made an impact on the residents, gaining new friends and new interests, including playing pool. Roger won the Sierra Winds pool tournament just days before his death. Roger was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by two sons, Jeff and Jay (Rose); his granddaughter, Stephanie; his brothers Russ (Bonnie) and Jim (Joanne) and his many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Keck was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, on January 1, 2002. Roger was a good friend to many and will be dearly missed in his community of Florida and by his friends at Sierra Winds.
A Memorial Service will be held at Sierra Winds on Monday, February 17 at 2 p.m.
