WILLIAMS, Matthew C., Sr.

The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona February 19, 2003 Matthew C. Williams Sr., 47, of Mesa, Arizona passed away on Friday, February 14, 2003. Matt was a Deputy Sergeant for Maricopa County Sheriff's Department. He was born in Mesa and served in the United States Marine Corps. attaining the rank of Sergeant. Matt is a member of the Masonic Lodge #43 in Scottsdale, 32nd degree Mason and Past Master. Matt was a dedicated officer committed to community service and to his fellow officers. He enjoyed teaching law enforcement at Mesa Community College and the Academy. He was a loving husband, father and papa to his grandchildren. Matt is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Kathy, two daughters Becky Runyon (Paul) and Michele Williams, one son Matthew (Matt) Williams Jr., five grandchildren Damon, Amanda, Crystal, Kayla and Amber, his mother Sally Goodthunder (Ken) and a brother Tony Goodthunder. Also survived by his father John Williams. Services will be Friday, 10:00 am at Risen Saviour Lutheran Church, 23914 S. Alma School Rd., Chandler, AZ.
