ECKLEY, Gregory James (Greg)

The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona February 20, 2003 GREGORY JAMES ECKLEY Our beloved Greg nicknamed by his admiring family when he was in elementary school as "Mr. Friendly" because of his great innate patience, gentleness, helpfulness and kindness towards all who knew him, left this world on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2003. He was 20 years old and astounded his Dad recently with his humility and utter innocence about himself when said he hoped someday to learn enough from his friends, his life and his Dad to be a good man. To Our Dearest Greggy From Your Family and Friends: Our good citizen, our gifted poet, computer genius, philosopher and recent hot rod enthusiast, our one who volunteered for every hard task, our honor student throughout your life, the one of whom no one could speak ill, one we now learn helped so many people who we never even knew of and took nary a bow for any of it, our "old soul," our lover of people, our selfless one who never complained of adversity and always had a joke, a smile and a shoulder to learn on for everyone, our noble, beautiful blessing loaned to us by God for such a short but benevolent stay here: You are now and have always been deeply admired as the best and most honorable man we have ever known. It is we, sweet soul, who have learned from you. Dad, Mom, Tori, Katy, Sebbie, Lulu, and Riley Memorial for Family and Close Friends, Only, 10:00 a.m. February 22, 2003.
