POPKINS, Richard C. (Dick)

The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona February 23, 2003 Richard C. "Dick" Popkins, 73, of Sun Lakes, AZ, passed away February 21, 2003. Survived by his loving wife, Carolyn; daughter Kerri Wood (Jerry); sons Kurt (Carrie) and Mike (Gina); 5 grandchildren, Shannon Wood, Kylie Popkins, Connor Popkins, Jared Popkins and Jack Popkins; and a sister, Dorothy Freebairn of Georgia. He is preceded in death by grandson Jason C. Wood. Dick was born May 5, 1929 in Salt Lake City, UT and served in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1955. He is the Founder and President of Southwest Aluminum Systems since 1982. Dick enjoyed golfing and attending AZ Diamondbacks baseball games. Most of all he enjoyed his grandchildren. Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother will be deeply missed. Visitation is 6:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday, Feb. 25, at Bueler Mortuary, 14 W. Hulet Dr., Chandler, AZ. Funeral services 2:00 PM, Wednesday at the Mortuary Chapel. Burial immediately following at the City of Mesa Cemetery, 1212 N. Center St., Mesa, AZ.
