HALPERN,
Edwin E.
The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona
February 28, 2003
Edwin Halpern, born July 29, 1923, passed away February 26, 2003.
Universally loved husband, father, brother, son and friend. Member of the Lincoln High School (Brooklyn, N.Y.) football team, undefeated and untied 1939-41, and NYC champions. After moving with his young family from Brooklyn, New York, to Phoenix in 1956, Ed became an insurance agent, winning countless friends from among his customers and co-workers. Charming, humorous, self-deprecating, Ed had the pear-shaped tones of a trained radio announcer and the singing voice of a Sinatra.
He leaves behind his wife Shirley, "Princess of Sheer Delight" for 55 years; son Bill Halpern, daughter-in-law Veronique Leininger and granddaughter Victoria, of Phoenix; son, Glen Halpern, daughter-in-law Laura Halpern and granddaughter Rachel, of Tarrytown, NY; and daughter Laurie Benenson, son-in-law Bill Benenson and granddaughter Amanda of Santa Monica, California.
Dad, may you meet Johnny and Murray in Heaven. We will always, always love and miss you.
Services to be held, 12PM, Sunday, March 2, 2003 at Hansen Desert Hills Chapel, 6500 E. Bell Rd., Scottsdale.
