HEURING, Francis (Ed)

The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona February 28, 2003 Francis "Ed" Heuring, 67, of Tempe, Arizona, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2003. Ed was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He played college football at the University of Maryland, later playing for the Canadian Football League before being drafted in to the NFL. He enlisted as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1960, serving in Vietnam before retiring with 23 years of service as a Lt. Colonel in May of 1983. Other than his family, Ed's other passion was golf. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Judith; 2 daughters, Lynne (Kerry) Hunter of Chandler and Shelley (Darin) Harvey of Tarzana, CA; a son, Chris (Sarah) Tilghman of Ocean City, MD along with sisters, Mary Margaret Loughman and Betsy Mansueti; brothers, Sonny, Tom, Joe and Bill and 5 grandchildren, Hannah, Kole and Karsen Hunter and Ian & Ellie Tilghman. He will be deeply missed. A memorial service will be at 1:00 pm Saturday March 1 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 1035 E. Guadalupe Rd. Tempe, AZ 85283. Burial, with full military honors, will follow at Mesa City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Ed's name to the church building fund. Tempe Mortuary entrusted with arrangements.
