The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Saturday, March 1, 2003 Karen H. Bomberg (nee) Halligan RN., passed away of ALS quietly on February 27, 2003. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, she received her nursing training at St. John's Hospital, School of Nursing, graduating in 1961. Moving to Phoenix in 1979, she continued to practice nursing as an emergency room nurse. Her husband James, of 41 years and her children James Scott, Patricia Ann, John and wife Danielle, Therese Policastro and husband William survive Karen. She had four grandchildren Timothy Patrick, Michael Scott, Elyse Noel and John Andrew. Karen was a devoted and loving spouse, mother and grandmother who was always more concerned with the health, safety and welfare of her family. As a Registered Nurse and caregiver she was always concerned about others more than herself. A woman of action and hope, she lived her life in the service of others. Karen enjoyed spending time with her family camping and other activities. She enjoyed spending time with her husband sailing on their sailboat "Esperanza". Contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to the ALS Associations, 5040 E. Shea Blvd., Suite 151, Scottsdale, Az., 85254, in memory of Karen Bomberg. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., Sunday, March 2, 2003 at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, 7924 N. 59th Ave., Glendale, Az. The funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m, Monday, March 3, 2003 at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 10815 N. 35th Ave., Phoenix, Az. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Avondale, z.
