SMITH, Travis Alan


Travis Alan Smith, 19, born March 25, 1983, was taken to heaven on "Father's Day" June 16, 2002. His father, Wayne E. Smith and stepmother Elaine, brothers Corey, Brennan, and Keaton of Mesa, Az., Mother Tanya Lowe and stepfather Mike and sister Cheyanne of Montrose, Co. survive him. Travis graduated from Olathe High School, Colorado in 2001. Excelling in academic's and sports, receiving the "President's Outstanding Academic Achievement' and included in the "Who's Who Among American HS Students'. He lettered in football and was honored by the Colorado HS "Academic All State First Team'. His special interests included weightlifting, roller blading, computers, music, movies, collecting, the Phoenix Coyotes and his love . . . his personally reconditioned '66 Ford Mustang'. He attended Central Christian Church, worked at "The Mustang Shop' and completed his first year at Mesa Community College. Travis drove his car back to Montrose to visit his mother, family and friends in May. He spent his first part of vacation with his brother Corey and best friend Drew Sutton. He continued to correspond via email with other Mustang Club enthusiasts, friends, and family. It was when he was traveling back to Mesa, just outside of Moab, Utah, when a motorist who had fallen asleep and crossed the centerline struck him head on. He went to Our Lord immediately. His final resting place is in Colorado Springs, Colorado. All who knew him will miss his tender, fun loving personality. His parents, family and friends will miss Travis tremendously. "We thank you Travis, for your gift of love. I love you son and we all look to the day when we will all be together again." Dad. A memorial fund has been established for Travis Alan Smith. Donations can be made at any Wells Fargo location. A Memorial Service will be held at Central Christian Church, 933 N. Lindsay Road, Mesa, Monday July 1st, 2002.
