Courtesy of Pat Wilson. --------------- The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 03/07/2003 Jean Grant Fillman, 82, died Saturday, March 1, 2003 at home in Lakeside. Jean was born at Binghamton, New York and grew up in Hartford, Connecticut, where she attended elementary and high school. She then attended Mt. Holyoak College in Vermont and finished at Pennsylvania State College with a degree as a design engineer. She came to Arizona in 1963 and went to work for Garrett Corp. She designed turbine engines and was the designer of the auxiliary power unit for the Apache helicopter. She remained there until she retired in 1980. She then moved to Lakeside. Jean was a very bright and talented lady. She collected stamps and was an avid rock hound. She loved the White Mountains and enjoyed nature. Jean is survived by her husband, Robert S. Fillman of Lakeside; three sons, Grant Elam of Phoenix, Robert J. Fillman of Lakeside and Ronald R. Fillman of Snowflake; one brother, William H. Grant of Tucker, Georgia; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 8 at 10 a.m. at Owens Mortuary in Show Low.
