Helen S. Hillyard, 89, died February 22, 2003. Born in Covington, Kentucky, December 23, 1913,
Helen graduated from the University of Cincinnati and earned her Master's degree from Smith College School of Social Work.
While living in Washington, D.C., she met and married Harold F. (Hal) Hillyard and together they raised three daughters.
After the family's move from Norfolk, Ma. to Phoenix (in 1960) Helen worked as a School Social Worker in the Phoenix Elementary School District, retiring in 1979.
Helen was predeceased by Hal in 1994 and is survived by a sister, Barbara MacDonald, of Napa, Ca; three daughters, Susan, of Los Alamos, Ca., Deborah, of Morro Bay, Ca., Linda of Phoenix and one grandson, Mitchell.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen's memory to the Smith School of Social Work Alumni Scholarship Fund, Lilly Hall, Northampton, Ma., 01063 or to the Alzheimer's Association - Desert Southwest Chapter, 1028 E. McDowell, Phoenix, Az, 85006.
