Olaf Christian Thorpe, 93, of Scottsdale, Arizona passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2003.
He was born on November 18, 1909, of Norwegian heritage in Stanley Wisconsin. He later moved to Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, and then on to St. Paul, Minnesota. Olaf graduated from the University of Minnesota, married, and then moved with his family to Scottsdale, Arizona in 1958.
Olaf was Treasurer for Transamerica Corporation in Phoenix, now part of Aegon. He also was past President of the National Association of Accountants. He was an active member of Mount of Olives Lutheran Church in Phoenix for 42 years.
Olaf was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Marie of 56 years. He is survived by his only child, Richard; three grandchildren, Cynthia Thorpe, Sandra Harris, and Thomas Thorpe; and two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Matthew Harris, all of New Jersey.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. of Olives Lutheran Church, 3546 E. Thomas Rd., Phoenix, Arizona.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 25, 2003, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Green Acres Mortuary, 401 N. Hayden Road, Scottsdale, Arizona, and also one hour prior to services on Wednesday.
Interment will be at Green Acres Memorial Gardens. Donations in Olaf's memory may be made to Mount Olives Lutheran Church or to the American Heart Association, 2929 S. 48th St., Tempe, Arizona 85282.
