TELLEZ, Erma Fay

Erma D. Tellez was born October 28, 1923 to Eunice Irene Ward and Samuel Lawrence Daniel in Camden, Arkansas. Following high school, Erma left rural Arkansas to work for the Army Family Benefits Department in Washington, D.C. and Newark, New Jersey in the early 1940's. While there, she met and married Enrique Henry Tellez of Metcalf, Arizona and relocated to live with his family as he was sent to serve in the European Theatre to help support the war efforts of World War II. Upon his return, Henry and Erma moved to Morenci where she raised their three children while Henry worked for the next 38 years at Phelps Dodge Mining Corporation. In 1970, Erma gained work with the Morenci School District in the cafeteria. She continued her work with the schools until 1980. Shortly thereafter in 1982, Erma and Henry moved to Safford, where they resided for the duration of their lives. Erma was a friend to many and will be missed by all.
