Candelario C. Campos
(February 2, 1917 - December 16, 2009)
Lalo was born on February 2, 1917, in Metcalf, Arizona to Julio and Aleja Campos. He was raised in Metcalf and attended school in Metcalf and Morenci.
He enlisted in the US Army in 1942 where he served proudly as a PFC until 1946. During this time he served in the European Theater in WWII. Upon discharge he pursued a career in the area of road construction and commercial truck driving. Most of his life was spent employed by Town of Clifton until his retirement in 1979.
In 1951 he met and married Margarita Garcia in Superior, Arizona, his partner for the past 58 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Angel and Jose, sisters Florencia, Anastacia and Francisca, grandson Anthony Hernandez and granddaughter Kristen Campos.
He is survived by his wife Margarita, his sons Eduardo (Darlene), Ruben (Peggy) and Manuel, daughters Virgie (Ben) Hernandez, Patsy (David) Gomez, Delfie (Mike) Espinoza, Julie Spreitzer, Annie (Eddie) Gomez and Eva Martinez. He is also survived by Rudy (Ernie) Campos. He also leaves behind 18 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Lalo entered into eternal rest on December 16, 2009, at home in Clifton, surrounded by his loving family. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Mt. Graham Hospice.
