Navada Pickens
(August 25, 1922 - November 30, 2009)
Tate was employed at the well known "Star Cafe" where she met Vernon Teeter, Shortly they were united in Marriage.
Vern was a miner and together the spent many years traveling where ever his employment took them. Smithsville Pennsylvania became their home where they owned and operated "Teeters"., a well known local eatery.
Due to a fire that destroyed the business, they returned to Safford and Purchases "Sportsman's Shack" in Glenbar, Arizona.
Several years later they returned to Pennsylvania remaining there until the death of Vern in November 1984.
Tate came back to the Safford area to enjoy liffe with her children and grandchildren.
She said she would not marry again until she forund a man that liked to dance and was a good cook.
Don Pickens, an old friend, just happened to fit this description.
After their marriage the happy couple began a great life of traveling, playing cards with friends, enjoying family, and most inportant, Fishing.
Don died in September 2007.
Tate then contunued her love of family, visiting her children until her dath.
She will be missed by all who know her.
Survived by: Wanda Session-Paul Teeter-Melody Blendu-Children HootGoodwin-Brother Jolene Hawkins and Gerdeling Holt-Sisters 13 Grandchildren 28 Great Grandchildren Many Friens and Many Love Ones.
Services for Nevada Pickens is Sunday December 6, 2009 at the Safford Funeral Home. Monday December 7, 2009. Services are at 10:00am at the the Lutherin Church.
