Oscar E.
Oscar E. Ewin, 85 of Scottsdale, AZ, passed away May 29, 2003 and will be dearly missed by many. He was born in Myton, Utah on Oct. 20, 1917, to Elmer and Mabel Ewin. Oscar moved to Colorado in 1923 after the death of his father. He attended school in Littleton, Grand Valley and Yampa where he graduated H.S. in 1936.
He was hired by AT&T in Jan. 1941 and was inducted into the Army Feb. 14th, 1942, where he served in England, France, Belgium and Germany. He was discharged in April 1946.
Oscar married Dorothy Lucille Carlock on Feb. 29, 1948, and moved to
Phoenix, AZ. After transferring from AT&T to Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph he and his wife moved to Prescott, AZ in 1952, where he was the company construction Foreman. Together they adopted their three children, Christie, Roberta, and Craig.
The family moved to Scottsdale in 1967, where Oscar retired in 1973 after 33 years of service. Oscar and Lucille moved to Cave Creek and later to Payson where they were involved in local community service. In 1999, Oscar moved to Villa Ocotillo so he could visit his wife daily at Heritage Court where she is a resident. Oscar was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, the VFW, and The American Quarter Horse Association.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Lucille; daughters, Christie & Roberta; son, Craig, four grandchildren; a brother and two sisters. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM, Tuesday, June 3, 2003, with a Funeral Service, 10:00 AM, Wednesday, June 4th at Messinger Mortuary Chapel, 7601 E. Indian School Rd., Scottsdale.
