GOLDSTEIN, Helen H.

Helen H. Goldstein passed on willingly and peacefully, confronting the challenge of death with the same spirit and courage as she faced so many obstacles in her life. Though she demanded so much from life, from her children and from all those around her, our reward was to share her zest for life, her unending energies and her generosity of spirit. The eldest child of immigrant parents, she entered school speaking nary a word of English, yet graduated high school with honors well ahead of her peers. She overcame the early loss of her husband and her own near death to raise five children. She was always active in civic affairs. Her persistent efforts in aiding many survivors of the Holocaust are an enduring legacy. She gave more than she took. We are grateful for her gifts to us. Her husband, Edward I. Goldstein and her eldest son, Arnold J. Goldstein, have preceded her in death. Three children, eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren survive her. Her wishes are that you donate your time and efforts to making this a better world for our children. Published in the Arizona Republic on 6/1/2003.
