BARBEE, William (Bill) Allison


The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona February 26, 2003 William "Bill" Allison Barbee went to be with his Lord and heavenly Family on February 23, 2003. Bill was born in Lawton, Oklahoma on April 21, 1912, 90 years, and 10 months. He was a wonderful Father and a loving Husband, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, and Great-Great-Grandfather, and was dearly loved by his numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his Mother, Father, his Wife Mary, and 2 Grandchildren, Mickey Franklin, and Jason Miller. Bill is survived by his 3 sons, and 4 daughters, William F. Barbee and wife Judy, Gerald W. Barbee and his wife Dona, Allen R. Barbee and wife Deena, Letha Adkins, Shirley Rothwell, and husband H. Charles, Sue Sleeper, and husband Bill and Doris Franklin, 25 Grandchildren, 36 Great-Grand children, 6 Great-Great-Grandchildren. Bill and Mary moved to Arizona July 4th, 1934 and he was hired by the J. G. Boswell Co. He was shop and Ranch Foreman for the (formerly) Goodyear Ranch, in Chandler, AZ, The Marinette Ranch (now called Sun City) and The Eloy Arizona Ranch. He was a great farmer and loved his beautiful cotton fields, and was amazed to see them grow from cotton to homes. He was an ardent bowler, he was President and served as Past President of the Glendale Arizona branch of The Woodmen of the World and was a member for 60 years. The family would like to give special Thanks to all the staff of Hospice Family Care Center in Mesa, AZ. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made in memory of William A. Barbee to Hospice Family Care of Mesa 1550 S. Alma School Rd., Suite 102, Mesa, AZ 85210. Visitation will be held from 5 8 P.M. on Thursday, February 27, 2003 at Chapel of the Chimes 7924 N. 59th Ave, Glendale, AZ.
