GATEWOOD, MaryAnn Theresa

Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Sunday, March 9, 2008 MaryAnn Gatewood, born March 13, 1932, passed on to the Lord’s embrace on Monday, March 3, 2008, at her Theresa Prescott Valley home in the arms of her son. MaryAnn’s roots were rich in Arizona Native American history: born in Fort Defiance and raised in the Ganado area, her Navajo pride has enriched many lives. She was the sister to several of America’s original Code Talkers. She was employed by Yavapai Community Hospital for nearly 30 years. MaryAnn is survived by Nathan and Kellie Gatewood; her grandchildren, Sheynna, Trevor and Bronz; her brothers, George Senior of California and Buddy of Chandler, Ariz.; along with several extended members.
