Everett Earl
Dr. Everett Earl Myers, Jr., was born on June 18, 1929 in Springfield, Missouri, and died on June 21, 2002 in Glendale, AZ. He was 73 years old.
He married Phyllis Jean (Ragle) Myers on August 26, 1951 and was the father of 3 children, Everett E. III, Thomas Jr. and Annie M. Yuen.
He was first a husband, father, educator and community leader and was loved and respected by several generations of high school students.
Everett was active in the 1st Southern Baptist Church of Buckeye, Lions Club and served as a member of the Buckeye Town Council as well as many other civic organizations. He was loved and respected by all who knew him.
After serving in the Air Force and graduating from Southwest Missouri State in 1956 he moved his family to Salome, Arizona where he started his career as an educator. In 1963 he accepted a position as principal at Morenci High School and held that position until 1966 when he became principal and subsequently superintendent of Buckeye Union High School where he loyally and lovingly served until his retirement in 1989.
In 1959 he earned his Masters of Education at the University of Missouri and in 1981 earned his Doctor of Education from Northern Arizona University.
He is survived by his son Everett, III and daughter Annie Yuen, preceding him in death was wife Phyllis Jean in May of 2001 and son Jeff in November of 2000. Other survivors are daughter-in-law Berta Myers, son-in-law Donald Yuen, and eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
