Captain James C.S Chu, 64, died Friday, February 21, 2003 at Robert Wood Johnson Univ. Hosp. in New Brunswick. Born in China, he came to the US from Taiwan in 1981. He had been a resident of Dayon for about 20 years. A retired Port Captain, he worked for a US affiliate of Evergreen International Corp., R.O.C., which is headquartered in Taipei. He retired in 1992 after 12 years.
He was a longtime member of the Central Jersey Chinese-American Association, where he sang in the choir. He was also a member of the South Brunswick Senior Citizens Center Pool Club. He enjoyed soccer, rugby, cooking, reading, and classical and opera music. He had a gentle nature, and was helpful to those in need.
A loving husband and father, he is survived by his wife, Joanna Chu; his son, Brandon B. Chu of Tempe, AZ; his daughters, Beverly B. Chu of Chandler, AZ and Jennifer B. Chu of Middletown, CT; one brother, Richard Chu of NY; and three sisters, Cora Eng of Kendall Park, NJ, Nancy Sher of Newark, DE, and Linda Yuen of Baltimore, MD. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 26, 2003, 10AM at the MJ Murphy Funeral Home, 616 Ridge Rd. at New Rd. Monmouth Jct, NJ.
Burial will take place in Oaklawn Cemetery Monmouth Junction, N.J. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 25, 2003 from 7-9PM only at the funeral home.
