Eugene L. (Gene) Clark, 82, passed away on February 22, 2003, in Phoenix, Arizona. Born on January 11, 1921, in Rowena, Texas, to Homer and Reva Clark. He served his country in the US Air Force during World War II, receiving numerous combat related awards and medals, to include the Purple Heart.
He retired from the Los Angeles, California Police Department in 1967 and pursued other endeavors until failing health prevented him from continuing. After retiring he opened a tavern, built a music-recording studio, built and sold apartment buildings and was employed as a Court Security Officer by the Federal Government. Throughout his adult life he played "bar shuffleboard" at the highest levels and was inducted into the Arizona Bar Shuffleboard Hall of Fame.
Preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Patricia (Riseland) Clark.
He is survived by daughter Jenan (Delbert) Salazar and son James Clark. Four sisters, Frances Lowery, Homalie Bullard, Ida Ruth Armstrong and Jimaileen Jensen. Five grandchildren: Joshua and Jessica Gustafson, Christopher, Joseph and Jacob Clark.
Visitation Thursday, February 27th, 5:00-7:00 p.m., with Funeral services following at 7:00 p.m. at A. L. Moore Grimshaw Bethany Chapel, 710 West Bethany Home Road, Phoenix, AZ.
