Courtesy of Pat Wilson. --------------- The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, AZ - 02/28/2003 Bob J. Marek, 73, died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003 in Eagar. Bob was born May 25, 1929 in Lodgepole, Nebraska to B.J. and Viola Marek, and grew up in Manitou Springs, Colorado, where he graduated from Manitou High in 1947. He had a long career in the heavy construction industry. He was a member of the Operating Engineers and worked as an equipment operator for many years before becoming a construction manager. His construction managements experience covered a wide range of projects from earthwork to high steel. His skilled hands touched projects across the southwest from the Unite States Air Force Academy to Tucson Electric Power. Bob is survived by his wife, Bobbie Marek and his son, John Marek. A memorial service was held Thursday, Feb. 27 at Owens Mortuary in Show Low.
