PESHAK, Eugene (Frank)


The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona February 27, 2003 Eugene "Frank' Peshak, a Wonderful Husband, Father, Friend. Born in Plymouth, Iowa, on February 3rd, 1924. Frank attended local elementary school and proceeded to Plymouth High School, where he graduated, class of 1942. From there he attended Mason City Junior College. During the outbreak of World War II, he enlisted and was on active duty in the U.S. Army, serving his country from January 31, 1944 to March 12, 1946. Frank served in active combat duty, on tour in France and Germany. While attached in service to the 3rd Division, he was wounded in action. He was awarded the distinguished "Purple Heart' for valor on December 24th, 1944, and the "Purple Heart Cluster' on April 17th 1945 for being wounded twice, in the service of his Country. After serving in the Armed Forces, Frank continued his desire for education where he graduated from Mason City Junior College. He proceeded to attend Iowa State University and followed with graduation from The Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis Minnesota. After a wonderful and romantic 2 year courtship, he married his loving wife, Helen Burgener of Mason City Iowa, on September 30, 1951. They lived in Des Moines Iowa, where Frank worked and supported his new family, as a construction and aeronautical engineer, and later as a mechanical engineer for the Maytag Company. In 1964, Frank and Helen now with a family of 5 young children, moved to Riverside California. After working successfully for a commercial paint company, Frank and Helen decided to go into business for themselves, and acquired a 7-11 store. From this business, they provided for their 5 children, Lori, Steve, Jeff, Joni and Teri for over 22 years. They continued to own and operate this successful neighborhood store until retiring in March 1990, with a new adventure still ahead, they followed the sunshine, and in 1990, moved to the city of Phoenix Arizona. It is here they live today, enjoying the love and admiration of their 5 Children, 12 lively and wonderful grandchildren and 2 beautiful great-grandchildren, many wonderful friends, and the strong attachment to a community that they continue to be very active in and enjoy more and more each day. ...Fast when you're having Fun...What else can be said? Visitation will be Friday, February 28, 2003 at Lakeshore Mortuary Chapel, 1815 S. Dobson Rd., Mesa, AZ 4:00-8:00 P.M.
