Cecilia R. Gibson of Flagstaff Arizona, age 80, entered into eternal life with her Lord on May 30, 2003. She was a loving and devoted mother, wife, grandmother and great grandmother and was born in Superior, Arizona on October 20, 1922 to Charles and Elsie Haynes. While growing up, she worked in her family's neighborhood grocery store. After marrying Woodrow F. Gibson, her husband of 44 years, she operated a corner grocery store in Phoenix while raising their children.
She continued to model strong work ethics and outstanding selling talents as she resume working in retail sales at Goldwater's Department Store in Phoenix and later at the Boston Store in Flagstaff. From 1995 to 2000 she co-owned and operated with her son Charles, Billie's Pet & Hobby in Flagstaff.
Her three children, Charles W. Gibson and Pattie Odgers both of Flagstaff and Rosalee Saikley of Manhatten Beach, California; her stepsons, Dudley Gibson and Thomas Gibson, along with 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren survive her. Preceding her in death were her husband, their infant son, Oscar Barton Gibson, her parents, three sisters, and one brother.
A family and friend viewing will be held on June 4, 2003 at the Norvel Owens Mortuary, 914 East Rt. 66, Flagstaff AZ from 6pm-8pm. Services will be held in the Serenity Chapel at Greenwood Memorial Cemetery, 2300 West Van Buren, Phoenix AZ on June 6, 2003 at 9am. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice or to Northland Hospice. Arrangements being handled by Norvel Owens Mortuary in Flagstaff AZ.
