The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Sunday, March 9, 2003 Jane Keams Chiago, (To Tsoni' clan) of Tempe, Arizona, passed away March 5, 2003, after a lengthy illness. She was born October 10, 1918, in Cedar Springs, AZ, on the Navajo Nation. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she is survived by husband, Clarence Chiago; children, Carol and Robert; son-in-law, James Lujan; grandchildren, James, Natasha, Eric, Iris, Robert Jr. and Tamara; and great grandchildren, Kyler and Darwin. She spent many years through 1950s and 60s living in the Los Angeles area. After settling in Tempe, she still enjoyed revisiting her old stomping grounds. Every summer, she and her husband delighted in taking their grandchildren to L.A. on sightseeing vacations. She was an expert cook and avid walker and reader. She will be greatly missed by all those who loved her for her kind and generous heart, her unique sense of humor and her incredible tortillas and frybread - the best anyone ever made. Funeral Services will be held March 11, 2003 at 1:00 PM, at the Lehi Presbyterian Church, Mesa, AZ. Bunker's Garden Chapel handled the arrangements. Courtesy of Pat Wilson.
