FREIJE, Raymond R.


The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Sunday, March 9, 2003 Raymond R. Freije, beloved husband, father, brother and friend, fell asleep in the Lord, March 6, 2003. A longtime resident of Glendale, Ray was born in Lawton, N.D., May 4, 1927 and worked at the company business. After serving in the Army during the Korean Conflict, he came to the Valley to visit. Here he met and married his wife Gloria Koory. He founded and ran Raymond R. Freije & Son Asphalt and Seal Coating Co. His son, George, worked with him. Upon his arrival in the area, Ray became very active at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, where he enjoyed doing all kinds of work for the church. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Gloria; son, George; sisters, Evelyn Kosobud of Tempe; Delores McCown of Grand Praire, TX, and Devona Grey of Temple City, CA; brothers, Alfred, Robert, John, Shabel, Howard, Bud of N.D. and Arnold of Minnesota. Numerous nieces and nephews & many, many friends. Visitation, Monday, March 10th from 6-8pm with Trisagion at 7pm at St. George Orthodox Church, 4530 E. Gold Dust, Phoenix. Funeral will be at 10am, Tuesday, March 11, also at the Church. Interment following will be at 10am, Tuesday, March 11, also at the Church.
