HARRY, Bette C.

The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Sunday, March 9, 2003 Bette C. Harry, age 86, died peacefully on March 7, 2003, in Mesa. She was born in Chicago in 1916, went to Milliken University. Widowed in 1996, she was married 50 years to Clifford Harry. She and Clifford moved to Mesa in 1953 and she worked for the Mesa Public Schools from 1956 to 1979. She retired as a supervisor of the Accounts Payable Department. She is survived by her three children, John (Bonnie) Harry, Robert (Carolyn) Harry and P.J. (Ernie) Stortz; her 8 grandchildren, Craig Harry, Jennifer Pavey, Leslie Vidler, Kirk Harry, Kaylyn Conner, Michelle Goodove, Tara Stortz and Aaron Stortz. She also has eleven great grandchildren. She volunteered many hours to the Republican Party and was a voter registrar for many years. After her retirement, she also volunteered with Meals on Wheels of Tempe. Her energy was boundless, her optimism contagious, and we'll miss her. Memorial services will be Monday, March 10, 2003 at 1:00 PM at Melcher's Chapel of the Roses, 43 S. Stapley Dr., Mesa, AZ. Memorial contributions will be welcomed to Hospice of the Valley and the Alzheimers Association.
