ERKKILA, Barbara Joan

Barbara Joan Burr Erkkila Professor Emeritus, age 71, died recently of a heart attack. She was a "Buckeye from Ohio" - born, reared and educated there. Barbara was graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Degree from the Ohio State University. She earned her Master of Business Administration at California State University Fullerton (CSU-Fullerton). Barbara joined the faculty of CSU-Fullerton in 1962 after stints as an auditor with the CPA firm of Arthur Young and Company and manager of the accounting department for the Bellflower Unified School District. Barbara was active in many professional societies and was a Fellow of the Society for Advancement of Management. Barbara Erkkila was dedicated to perfection and scholarship. At the Ohio State University she was elected to Beta Alpha Psi, Honorary Accounting Society. She was responsible for many CSU-Fullerton students receiving scholarships and honors at graduation. In 1991 Barbara retired in Paradise Valley, Arizona. She is survived by her only son, Brian Erkkila, of Paradise Valley; and 5 grandchildren, Jayi, Shanti, Lila, Aria, and Tejah. Funeral Service will be held on Mon., June 24, 2002, at Scottsdale Bible Church Chapel, 7901 E. Shea Blvd., Scottsdale, AZ. Arrangements by Messinger Indian School Mortuary.
