Melvin (Harvey)
Irish Memorial Services will be held for Melvin "Harvey" Irish, age 69, of Phoenix, on Friday June 28th, 2002, at Jesus First Church, 498 W Missouri, Phoenix. Rev. Jerry Selvidge and Paul Lyda will officiate.
Harvey passed away at home on Monday, June 3, 2002. Funeral Services were held in Albert Lea, MN where he resided before moving to the Phoenix area and interment was at Arago Cemetery in Park Rapids, MN.
He was born on October 14, 1932, in Stewart, Neb. the son of Harold and Marie Irish. They moved to the Park Rapids area where Harvey attended school, and then owned and operated Robertson Lumber Company. While living in Albert Lea, he owned and operated Highland Builders, Inc. and was a licensed Realtor for Century 21 Real Estate Company. Upon moving to Phoenix, he began working as a contractor sales rep for Liberty Lumber, worked several years for Payless Cashways, and currently was selling for Ryan Lumber, in El Mirage.
After returning to Park Rapids, from time served in the US Army, he married Betty Massey and had three children: Lorri and Robert now of Phoenix, and Linda of Buffalo Wyo, who all survive him.
In May of 1989 he married Judy Kay Dammen and had one daughter, Shanna Renea, who is still at home. Also surviving him are one sister, Karen Johnson of Ottertail, MN, two nieces: Leah of Minneapolis and Leslie of Waseca, MN, nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one great-nephew, and one great-niece. Harvey was a member of the Masonic Temple and the Maricopa County Sheriff's Posse.
