ONSTINE, Daniel Harry


The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ December 9, 2009, p. B5 Daniel Harry Onstine passed away on Dec. 3 from heart failure at Sun City West Hospital in Sun City, Ariz. He was a resident of Wickenburg where he moved 1985 from California. He was born December 15, 1924, in Greely, Colo., where he spent most of his early childhood with his brother Robert and parents Daniel and Fay Onstine. He moved to California with his family in mid 1930 where he finished high school. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He attended University of Southern California and received his mechanical engineering degree. He met and married Lois Grace Knoll. They raised three children and had the opportunity to travel to the East Coast, Spain and Mexico with Dan’s work. He loved golfing, working on old cars, dancing, and interacting with friends. His wife passed away July 29, 2004. He met Donna Brooks attending a grieving support group where they became close friends and later on bought a house together. They had been living together since then with their dogs Teddy Bear and Missy. Dan and Donna looked after each other. He was a very kind man. He could fix just about anything. He loved reading about politics and finances. He was preceded in death by his wife Lois Onstine, son Greg Onstine, daughter Danelle Jenkins, and grandaughter Cyndi Jenkins. He will be terribly missed by his son David Onstine, daughter in law Elisete Onstine, his grandchildren Esther Onstine and Elliot Onstine all from North Carolina, close friend Donna Brooks of Wickenburg, as well as his extended family and many friends. Service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Wickenburg on Wednesday (Dec. 9) at 2:30 p.m. Arrangements are by David’s Desert Chapel Funeral Home.
