Richard “Dick” Conklin, 82, passed away to a quiet place on Tuesday, Dec. 22 with his wife and daughter by his side.
Dick, being an organ donor, will be cremated according to his wishes. A celebration of his life was conducted at the Wickenburg Country Club Tuesday (Dec. 29). Graveside services will be held in Iowa at a later date. Dick was born in Kalona, Iowa to Frank and Edith Dawson Conklin.
Richard was a barber in Iowa for 43 years. He was a member of the Elks Club, Masonic Lodge, and the Lions Club. As an avid golfer, Dick was a member of the Fairfield, Iowa, Golf and Country Club and the Wickenburg, Ariz., Country Club. He had a passion for golf, stories, song, dance, life and world travel.
Richard is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years Hazel June; his two daughters Deborah (Patrick) Kinney of Oxford, Iowa, and Sally (Alberto) Salazar of Whidbey Island, Wash.; and three incredible grandchildren -- David, Sarah, and Eric who loved and admired him every day.
His positive encouragement and outlook on life will remain an example to us all. Go Hawks!!
