Doris (Hart) Billingsley, 78, of Peeples Valley passed away Jan. 5, 2002 of natural causes.
Doris Billingsley was born April 23, 1923 in Barrow-in-Furness, England. She served in the British Royal Air Force during World War II, where she met George H. Billingsley, a B-17 radio operator in the U. S. Air Force, whom she later married.
In 1947, after the war, she and her husband moved to the Billingsley Ranch (the OX Ranch) on Date Creek north of Congress, Ariz.
She was active in the Eastern Star, Oasis chapter35, was an active volunteer in the school system, and was an avid painter.
Mrs. Billingsley loved providing food and care for all animal life, tame or wild.
In 1969, she and her husband moved to a farming operation in Duncan, Ariz.
They both retired from farming in 1978 when they moved to Peeples Valley, Ariz.
Mrs. Billingsley is survived by a brother, Allen Hart of Whitehaven, England; and her three children, daughter Kay Haeufgloeckner of Peoria, Ariz., sons George Billingsley of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Michael Billingsley of Wickenburg; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Her husband George preceded her in death.
Memorial services will be held at the Masonic Lodge Hall, 470 Rose Lane, at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20.
